Cool Stuff I've Found...

 "Jersey Boys" on Broadway
Back to Full Blog

I just got a chance to see the new Broadway play, "Jersey Boys". I think it just opened recently.

It's great! It's the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons who were (obviously) from New Jersey.

I always loved their music as a kid -- Even though I'm only 34, I like to say I grew up with oldies... my parents always played them around the house and use to run record hops in the 70's.

The 4 Seasons had hits such as "Big Girls Don't Cry", "Rag Doll", "Walk Like a Man"... and Frankie Vallie had his own hits such as "December, 1963" (Oh what a night...) and "Can't take my eyes off of you...".

Anyway, the story is great... I won't spoil it, but lots of ups and downs and connections with a well known actor of today. It's very well paced, keeps you interested, and the music is great. The lead who plays Frankie is about 95% of the real deal. He does an excellent job.

Definitely check this out if you get to go to NYC. It's selling out ahead of time so book ahead!

Jesus Christ Superstar is my favorite. Never been to NYC though, saw it in Cincy.

If we are talking "favorite" shows, hands down mine is West Side Story. Hope to see it on Broadway someday... have seen it off broadway 4-5 times and the movie tons of times. The music in that show/movie is fantastic.

This sounds like it was great, John. I haven't seen a Broadway show in years, I'm more of a movie buff, but maybe I'll get to check this out. A lot of people are snapping up tickets, apparently, and I hear it's doing really well at the box office. As far as West Side Story--I love it too. And by the way, today (December 11th) is Rita Moreno's 74th birthday!--Sir Cranky

I haven't seen a Broadway Play in many years since "Annie". My uncle and aunt took me to see it in New York. He was an executive with IBM in New York. My funniest memory is of my uncle going up a circular driveway in a parking garage the wrong way and backing down it as fast as he started up. It was true comedy! He always reminded me of Chevy Chase. I still laugh when I think about it to this day! Tokyo Jan

I wish I could remember his name right now ... but, alas, all I remember is that he (the lead) was working at the theatre as a doorman and tried out and MADE IT!!!! And he’s been LEADING ever since ... it is a great story!!!
